I find it strange that I'm more stunned Brazil dropped down to 8 once than I am by the fact that their average ranking is 1.582.
ReplyDeleteAlso, great blog. So many interesting things that I never knew I wanted to know. My favorite posts are the height lists. So useful in making crazy Fifa squads.
@Jeff
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why, but Brazil was actually ranked 8 in the first ever FIFA ranking in Aug 93. They immediately moved to #1 in Sep 93 and haven't been below 6 ever since (in Aug, Sep 98).
That also includes two incredible multiple year runs without dropping below #1 (Jul 94-Apr 01 and Jul 02-Jan 07).
Appreciate the compliment and thanks for reading!
Well Brazil deserve to be up there at the top really, though i agree, suprising to see they were ranked down at 8!
ReplyDeleteWhen was Bolivia as high as 18th? After they qualified for the 1994 World Cup?
ReplyDeleteBolivia was ranked 18th in July and August 1997.
ReplyDeleteBolivia's average ranking in four year periods:
40.875 - 94 to 98
60.979 - 98 to 02
93.729 - 02 to 06
82.809 - 06 to 10
