Where is Australia?
ReplyDeleteAustralia dropped to 8th (76 overall) in Asia this month.
DeleteThe Socceroos gained 0 FIFA ranking points at the World Cup (3 losses) and as hosts and automatic qualifiers at the 2015 Asian Cup, they haven't played any confederation-level qualifier games (which are weighted 2.5x more).
Other Asian teams that successfully qualified for that competition in the past year have gained more ranking points than Australia.
It's common for an automatically qualified host of a Confederation-level tournament or World Cup to drop in the rankings because of the lack of weighted qualifier games.
