Geographical Extremes in European Football

I found an interesting document over at RSSSF (Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation) that I thought I'd share today (with all credit to the original author Sondre Zachiarassen and RSSSF).

They've put together a listing of Geographical Extremes in Europe in First Level leagues and European Cups. The list includes the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost clubs to participate in and to win European cups and first level competitions.


First Level - Participation
North: Tromsø IL, Norway
South: UD Las Palmas, Spain
East: Okean Nakhodka, Russia
West: CD Santa Clara, Portugal

First Level - Winner
North: KA Akureyri, Iceland
South: Hapoel Beer Sheva, Israel
East: Yelimay Semey, Kazakhstan
West: IB Keflavík, Iceland

European Cup - Participation
North: Tromsø IL, Norway
South: UD Las Palmas, Spain
East: Irtysh Pavlodar, Kazakhstan
West: IB Keflavík, Iceland
