  1. Fabregas was actually number 6 in the UEFA list after Anelka, ranked at 26.

    One thing to keep in mind is these Castrol rankings are from 9/9/2010. Quite a few games have taken place since then and I would expect to see a few top players who are absent from this list to appear in the top 5 when the new rankings are released.

  2. Why is Hahnemann ranked so high? 15th overall?

  3. Oh, I forgot to add (Hahnemann question)thanks for the list. Nicely done.

  4. Honestly, I'm not really sure why Hahnemann is ranked so high, he's actually been the best ranked CONCACAF player in Europe for a while now.

    I can say that The Castrol Index isn't always about the 'best' individual player, but the players who have the most positive influence on a game for their team.

    Apparently Hahnemann is VERY influential for Wolves, at least in the stats that give you a high Castrol rating.

    If you've not seen it before, check out the video here:

    It gives a basic explanation of how they come up with these debatable rankings.

  5. Thanks, keep up the good work.

  6. i think mikel obi should be there rather than song

  7. i'm surprised Tim Howard is 299th in the Premier League, thought he would be higher

  8. @Wande
    I would guess that mikel obi will be in the top 5 when the October rankings are released.

    @don't tread
    The overall rankings actually take the 5 top European leagues into account. (England, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain). So Howard is 299 out of those 5 leagues.

    Howard is still only the 14th best GK in the EPL according to the rankings. He's currently behind Hahnemann, Van der Sar, Reina, Gomes, Hart, Gordon, Cech, Friedel, Schwarzer, Almunia, Sorensen, Robinson, Given.
