For comparison, here are the top 10 European Nations. Interesting, though not really surprising, that Brazilian players top the starter list in a European competition.

Numbers compiled from Statbunker
surprising that only 21 English starters- wonder if that # will rise as the "homegrown" takes effect.
ReplyDeleteThe USA # will go to 2 if/when Jermaine Jones gets a cap with the US?
who are the other 6 concacaf starters beside Edu?- can't remember who's started v. played as sub.
I think that maybe Jermaine Jones was counted as 'Other' where I got these numbers from at statbunker.com. I would think that if/when he gets his cap they would switch him over to USA.
ReplyDeleteI'm not 100% positive on the other CONCACAF players because I only went by the numbers they have at statbunker without doing any further research. My guess without looking anything up:
Wilson Palacios (Tottenham Hotspur; Honduras)
Bryan Ruiz (FC Twente; Costa Rica)
Bryan Oviedo (FC Copenhagen; Costa Rica)
Christian BolaƱos (FC Copenhagen; Costa Rica)
Javier Hernandez (Manchester United; Mexico)
Carlos Vela (Arsenal; Mexico)
Both countries have been in the rankings before. The new roster in 2012 is interesting as well.
