It is interesting to note that Scandinavian nations Sweden, Denmark, and Norway have all been at their lowest ever ranking in 2009 while Finland has slowly been creeping up the rankings over the past few years.

Those people out there who want Juergen Klinsmann for the USA National Team post instead of Bob Bradley should perhaps think twice. Germany's lowest ever FIFA ranking was pre-World Cup 2006 with Klinsmann in charge and many fans in Germany wanted him fired before the WC began after a run of poor results, including a 4-1 loss to Italy.

Northern Ireland has made the most impressive move up the rankings in the last five years, going from their low rank of 124 in 2004 to their current position of 27.
