Club Mergers since 1970

In the world of soccer, it often makes sense for two clubs to combine forces into one stronger club. This is a list of club mergers that have taken place in the last 40 years. I've also included a number of proposed merges that failed to materialize.

1970
Paris Saint-Germain (France)
Stade Saint Germain merged with Paris FC but split two seasons later

1988
Dagenham & Redbridge FC (England)
a merger of Dagenham FC and Redbridge Forest FC

1989
AFC Tubize (Belgium)
a merger of FC Tubize and Amis Reunis de Tubize

1992
Rushden & Diamonds FC (England)
a merger of Rushden Town FC and Irthlingborough Diamonds FC

FC Copenhagen (Denmark)
a merger of Kjøbenhavns Boldklub and Boldklubben 1903

1994
Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC (Scotland)
a merger of Caledonian FC and Inverness Thistle FC

1999
FC Midtjylland (Denmark)
a merger of Ikast FS and Herning Fremad

2003
The New Saints FC (Wales)
a merger of Total Network Solutions and Oswestry Town

2004
Wokingham & Emmbrook FC (England)
a merger of Wokingham Town and Emmbrook Sports

2007
Hayes & Yeading United FC (England)
a merger of Hayes FC and Yeading FC

Team would have been called the Thames Valley Royals

1987
Queens Park Rangers and Fulham
Team would have been calle the Fulham Park Rangers

1990
Hearts of Midlothian and Hibernian (Scotland)

Early 90's
Dundee FC and Dundee United (Scotland)

1999
Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United (England)

Cyrstal Palace FC and Wimbledon FC (England)

2001
Queens Park Rangers and Wimbledon FC (England)

2009
Roda JC and Fortuna Sittard (Netherlands)
Team would have been called Sporting Limburg

Bath City and Team Bath (England)
